江永上甘棠古村

上甘棠村位于江永县城西南25公里的夏层铺镇，为古苍梧郡谢沐县治，有七百余年历史。整个村落依山傍水，座东朝西，东靠屏峰山脉，村前环绕清澈的谢沐河，形成极好的风水闭合。现有民居大部分为晚清建筑，高大的风火墙，严整的纵深布局，考究的中轴对称，大面积的青水墙面，冠以起伏变化的白色腰带，缀以门庐、漏窗，上房屋四周突起的马头墙，有典型的湘南建筑特色。居民以周族为主，自唐太和二年开始定居上甘棠，代代繁衍，延续至今，已历1240余年，堪称“忠孝廉节”和崇文尚武的教化之乡，历代出过节度使、尚书、宣政大夫、太守、刺使、知州、通判、县令、文儒郡、将军等100多人。走进上甘棠，青山、绿水、小桥、人家，好一幅山水田园秀美画卷。

Located in Xiacengpu Town,25 kilometers away from Jiangyong County, Xiemu county hadbeen set here over 700 years till now. Surrounded by mountains and rivers,facing west, with the excellent geomantic omen, most of the buildings werebuilt at the late Qing Dynasty with typical architectural features of southernHunan, such as, geographical layout of depth, high anti-fire walls, grey walls,embellished by different white waistbands, doors, windows and protruding wallof horse-head shape. Walking into the Ancient Shanggantang Village, as if wewere strolling into a natural rural scenery painting, constituted by greenmountains, limpid rivers, elegant bridge and delicate buildings.
