月岩位于道县境内，湖南省第二高峰韭菜岭下，背靠巍然挺拔的都庞岭，面朝清塘群峰耸立的石灰岩峰林。森林公园内的人文、地质地貌、水文和天象景观丰富而奇特，有月岩厅洞、一线天峡谷等众多象形山石。尤以月岩最为著名，有“一洞三月”景观，堪称地质奇观，明代地理学家徐霞客游览月岩后感慨：永南诸景殿岩，道州月岩第一。
