零陵周家大院The Zhous’ Compound in Lingling

大院始建于明代宗景泰年间（1450—1456年），建成于光绪三十年（1904年）。宋代理学家周敦颐后裔于明中期迁移至此生息繁衍，历26代近600年，故名周家大院。是“中国历史文化名村”和“国家重点文物保护单位”。  

The Zhous’ Compound in Lingling was begun to built in the Jingtai age (1450 to 1456) of Ming Dynasty and accomplished in the 30^th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu (1904). The descendants of Zhou Dunyi, the famous philosopher in Song Dynasty, moved here in the middle and late Ming Dynasty and settled here since then. The Zhou people live here for nearly 600 years, multiplying 26 generations. Hence, it is called the Zhous’ Compound. The Zhous’ Compound is now listed as “Famous Historical and CulturalVillageinChina” and “Key State-level Cultural Relics Protection Unit”.
